AFROFUTURISM: CONSTELLATION IN ART, EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES, AND POSSIBLE FUTURES

Curated by Zaika dos Santos, the exhibition that forms part of Carnegie Hall's "United in Sound: America at 250" festival is a diverse speculative cartography celebrating Black narratives worldwide, capable of intertwining ancestry, technological innovations, and transtemporal projections. Against the backdrop of the 250th anniversary of the United States' independence, the exhibition proposes a reflection on how this milestone resonates in global dialogues about freedom, emancipation, and justice, highlighting the African and Afro-descendant voices that continue to challenge and reimagine these notions. In this context, African and Afro-descendant music emerges as a fundamental aesthetic and political force, a sonic territory of resistance, memory, and invention, connecting spirituality, body, and technology, translated into the artworks and concerts that comprise this project.
